Tammy Heesakker

Tammy supports Dartmouth researchers in the Departments of Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Physics, The Thayer School of Engineering, and Geisel School of Medicine with invention evaluation, patent filing and management, commercial and market strategies, contract negotiation, technology development planning and resourcing, and other aspects of technology commercialization. 

BACKGROUND

Tammy Heesakker is a Senior Business Development and Licensing Manager at Dartmouth College where she supports technology development in the areas of chemistry, materials sciences, climate and energy, medical devices, and other fields of engineering, science and medicine. 

 

Prior to joining Dartmouth, she managed the translational research program in the Manstein Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital's (MGH) Cutaneous Biology Research Center (CBRC) to develop medical device assets for out-licensing. 

 

Prior to her work in the Manstein Lab, Tammy was Principal at Tyche Innovation LLC.  In this role, she consulted for clients regarding early-stage device development and commercialization.  In addition, she previously served as a Senior Business Strategy and Licensing Manager at Partners HealthCare. There, she was responsible for commercializing technologies from Massachusetts General Hospital supporting the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, the Manstein Lab at the CBRC, and the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She specifically focused on medical device technologies including aesthetic and laser medicine, wound healing, and devices for plastic and vascular surgery. 

 

Before Partners HealthCare, Tammy held a technology commercialization role specializing in nanotechnology at Drexel University.  She started her career with Merck & Co., Inc. where she rose to a senior process engineering position. 

 

Tammy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an International MBA with a concentration in Finance from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, and has completed graduate level coursework in Biology at Harvard University.
